In this program, YFC believes that providing comprehensive life skills and leadership skills trainings to girls and vulnerable young women gives them an opportunity to explorer their potential to compete in male dominated World. To achieve the Girl leadership, YFC provides life skills and leadership skills to strengthen girls’ knowledge in decision–making, goal setting, communication skills, assertiveness, self-esteem building, resisting peer pressure and relationship skills and human rights and gender equality
We support Girl champions to engage in peer to peer child marriage activism at different platforms. The girl champions in schools are organized to conduct school debts to discuss child marriage issues and also support out of school girl champions to hold regular quarterly targeted peer community dialogues. The married girls are organized in groups of 10 (power of 10) to hold peer led behavior change communications and advocacy targeting their fellow peers in schools and out of school using creative technique such as debt, plays and drama to reflect child marriage and its harmful impacts for girls and their families and community.
We also facilitate girl champions to attend regular Sub-County and District level council meetings so that girls learn, connect and socialize with leaders outside their village/ home to enhance their leadership skills.
We also support girl champions to participate in sub-county and District budget conferences to influence specific budget allocations towards violence against girls and ending child marriages
